All tours start at 2 pm and last approx. 3 hours. The philosophy behind the work at Rainbow Valley Farm is explained and examples are pointed out. Topics covered include sustainability, Permaculture, edible landscapes, organic food production, compost toilets, non-toxic houses and zero waste. Tours go ahead rain, hail or shine. It is not necessary to book, just turn up. Cost $12 per adult. Includes cold drink and fruit. The farm closes from May until November. Workshops One day workshops are held on Rainbow Valley Farm over summer. Workshops start at 9 am and finish at 5 pm. Price $95 per person. Morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea are included. Bookings essential. A $30 deposit is required. Dates: 17 February 2007: Introduction to Permaculture 10 March 2007: Building an Earth Oven 14 April 2007: Edible Landscapes 28 April 2007: Bamboo 12 May 2007: Bottle Walls and Windows Courses Permaculture Design Course: 16 –30 March 2007. This is the original 72 hour design course - graduates will be awarded a certificate from Bill Mollison’s Permaculture Institute in Australia. This is an intensive 14-day course where students have the chance to get fully immersed in the Permaculture way of thinking and acting while studying on a working Permaculture farm. The course covers sustainable living systems for a wide variety of landscapes and climates. It includes the application of Permaculture principles to food production, home design, construction, energy conservation and alternative economic structures. Students are invited to bring details of their own sites or potential sites.
